HOW CAN YOU HELP?

SBRET is a small rescue organization, run by a small group of loyal and hard working volunteers. We are in great need for LOTS of things and LOTS of help.

Foster Homes

Our number one need is for foster homes. Even IF we had all the money in the world, without foster homes, we could not rescue these precious pups! Won't you consider fostering of our little guys? The most frequently asked question/comment we get in regard to fostering is that "I couldn't bear to let the dog go - I would get too attached to it." It is true, it is always a bit sad to see our rescues go. We have often seen these pups come in dirty, scared, and sometimes abused - and then see them leave as the happy, healthy dogs they were meant to be. But, the SBRET adoption process is so strict, that by the time the dog is adopted out, we know it's going to a great place! Of course the foster home has significant input into where the dog is placed. We have to admit, it has happened to the best of us, if you foster long enough, there may be the time when you meet that special dog that gets to your heart in some special way. If that happens, then you can complete the adoption application for whatever dog you are interested in and go through the standard adoption process. Check out our Foster flyer for more information. So, if you would be interested in fostering, please contact us.

Monetary Donations

Veterinary care is our primary expenditure, and luckily our vet allows us to keep a balance due. Donations in ANY amount are always welcome for these veterinary expenses as well as other expenses. Donations by check can be sent to SBRET; P.O. Box 22482; Knoxville, TN 37933. If you would prefer to send a donation directly to our veterinarian to be credited to our account, please email one of the SBRET contacts and we can get the address to you. We also accept online donations via PayPal: . Since we are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, donations to SBRET are tax deductible.

Donations needed:   The support of local veterinarians is vital to any rescue group, and we are very fortunate to work with two clinics that offer us a discount on services; however, veterinary care for our foster dogs is still extremely expensive. Rarely does the adoption fee for a dog cover the expenses that have been incurred. If you are considering making a financial contribution to SBRET, any amount is welcome, or you might wish to make a specific donation to cover any of the following expenses:

Donation Menu
$140 - Spay/neuter,inoculations,microchip,heartworm and fecal check for one dog
$50 - Gas card to defray a small part of the transportation expenses: rescuing dogs from surrounding counties, transporting dogs to the vets, home visits, or transporting dogs to other rescue groups
$75 - Dental cleaning for one dog
$15 - Heartworm and flea preventative for one dog for one month
$5 - New collar and leash for one dog
$30 - Worming one dog with appropriate medication
$30 - Grooming (usually total shave down) for one dog who comes to us severely matted.

Supplies

We are in great need of dog crates (wire and airline), dog beds, dog toys, dog collars, dog leashes, dog gates, Heartgard Plus or Interceptor Heartworm preventative (small or medium size), and Frontline or Advantage flea preventative.

A great way to help out SBRET dogs in foster care if you are unable to foster is by shopping for them from our Amazon Wish List. These are items that mean a lot to our volunteers and the dogs they care for while awaiting their forever homes. There are items in all price ranges and any items from the list are much appreciated!

Volunteers/Services

We are always in search of new volunteers to transport dogs to and from vet appointments, fundraise or help come up with fundraising ideas, produce newsletters and adoption/educational flyers, return phone calls, groom dogs, and participate in adoption events. The possibilities are endless and too numerous to list!
