Dash checking in here--you know Dash of "Dash and Dan" rescued from the Warren County puppy mill bust--hopefully you have been following our story on the web site and on Facebook. I am about 5 months old, weigh 7 pounds, and am a male Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. My foster mom is delighted to report that I am living up to my name and am have such fun "dashing" all over the fenced yard chasing my foster siblings. I was a very shy, timid little boy when I came into rescue but am making progress every single day. My foster Jack Russell sister Zoe is teaching me about pottying outside and Levi has taken over the job of being my big fur brother and showing me the ropes and helping me not to be so scared. Who would have thought that shy little me could have worked into a pack of three confident, exuberant Jack Russells as well as I have. My foster mom is awfully proud! I even went on a two mile hike today and did great except when time to cross streets and that is still just a bit scary for me. I am learning about coming to folks when they call me (especially when treats are involved) and not run and hide when you want to pick me up. There is so much to learn outside the puppy mill! Lucky for me I am still just a young boy and will do fine. I am becoming more sure of myself all the time and have even started venturing out and around the house and fenced yard by myself--everyone says that is a huge deal! My foster mom and fur sibs are helping me become more confident by not babying me and showing me all the wonderful things there are to learn and explore. I need a family willing to keep working with me on my self-confidence and housetraining. I would do best in a home with another well-adjusted, playful dog and someone home at least part of the day. I would not do so well as an only dog with someone out of the house all day. When my foster mom has to leave me I am gated in the kitchen area with my big brother Levi and do great--if kenneled all alone I can kick up quite a fuss. I sleep like a little champ in my crate at night as long as I can see my foster family sleeping near by. So if you think I just might be the guy for you, please give my friends at SBRET a call and tell them Dash sent you their way. I am ready for my furever family for sure! My adoption fee is $175.
