JoAnn and Jay with Shadow and Toby
Toby and Shadow are doing so wonderfully together! We never could have imagined Toby would have fit in so well and so quickly. They begin each morning with a run in the yard, then a forty minute walk side by side around the neighborhood. We have a link that hooks the two leashes together and they look so cute! Toby LOVES his walks and will often lie by the door letting us know he wouldn't mind another. They're always together and stay close to one of us, switching back and forth between us during the day. About every 2-3 hours (except, thank goodness, at night when they sleep on our bed, ) they begin racing around the yard or whatever room they're in, in crazed circles and jumping and wrestling with each other. Often they'll both have a toy in their mouths at the same time and play tug a war. Stealing toys is a sure way one of them will use to get the other to leap up to play. They'll each come when we call their individual names, but also respond in unison to "Hey, boys." Toby now immediately sits the minute he sees a treat come out of the can or hears the word "sit" even if it's not for a treat. It was really funny when he first began sitting in the kitchen because his fuzzy butt kept sliding on the wood floor. He's no longer intimidated by the stairs and races up and down them as if he's been doing it all his life. They also enjoy visiting with the terrier next door. Toby is, as advertised, absolutely perfect. We love him to pieces. See the 2/4/04 update on Toby!
Shadow and Toby 2/4/04 Update: Toby just received his diploma from PetSmart obedience school and has taken several trips to the GA mountains and to Myrtle Beach where he had a grand time. He's really learned to play, and he and Shadow love being together - Toby has helped solve some of Shadow's separation anxiety issues.
