Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee |

Hi, I'm Sawyer and I am an adult, male Toy Poodle. I only weigh about 8 pounds so I am a small guy. I came to SBRET from Mississippi where I was dumped by a breeder at a local vet's office. Lucky for me another rescue person made it her mission to find someone to take me in. Well, next thing you know I am headed to Tennessee and on to a better life. I am a very calm, laid back little guy. My favorite thing to do is curl up on my bed and watch you go about your day. I love my crate and sleep there quietly at night. I also like to go in there just to hang out during the day. I am still learning a lot about what it's like to be a pampered pet rather than a breeding dog. Lots of things are new to me. I do enjoy cuddles and treats though! I am working on my leash walking and improving more everyday. I'm also working on my housetraining. My foster mom says I'm doing a pretty good job on that too, but I will need continued positive reinforcement in a new home as I adjust to new surroundings. I get along just fine with other dogs and like to curl up on the doggie bed with them. Unfortunately, due to my lack of care by the breeder, I did lose most of my teeth during my dental but that doesn't slow me down. If you have room on your couch for a curly little couch potato, I'm your boy! My adoption fee is $175. 12/29/09 update: Hey there! They say it's time for me to update my page so everyone can know what a good boy I'm turning out to be. I'm still a little shy with new people but I'm doing so much better! I am learning that people are nice and want to pet me. I really like that! I have started seeking the attention of my foster mom and will approach her and put my paws up when I want her to pick me up. I also like to give kisses and nudge you with my nose when I want to cuddle. My leash walking has GREATLY improved, which everyone around here is really excited about. It turns out that the yard isn't nearly as scary as I once thought. That grass stuff is pretty fun to sniff around in too! Oh and everyone is all excited about this housetraining thing. I have been doing really well and I have figured out that if I cause a fuss, someone will take me out to potty so there's no need to go indoors. Please be patient with me because accidents can happen in a new place and it may take a few days for me to be comfortable enough with a new person to signal them. My foster mom thinks I'm just a great little guy and I will be a perfect companion for my new person.
