My name is Roy Rogers and I am about a 20 lb., approximately 2 year old Terrier mix. I am both cute and handsome with my combination wiry and soft grey and white hair. I am a special dog because I was chosen to participate in a program called HALT (Humans and Animals Learning Together). Through that program, four different teenagers from local residential treatment centers got to teach me obedience. I was in a group of 5 other special dogs who were selected from the Young Williams Animal Center to get to work with the kids. It was so much fun but, for me, the fun ended when the classes were over. You see, I wasn't adopted. All my other HALT dog buddies got to go to forever homes but no one wanted me. I am not happy being kenneled for so long - now I am back at Young Williams Animal Center - it really is a beautiful and wonderful place but it is not a home and I don't like all the noise and cage doors. It will probably take me a while to adjust to being in a home (maybe with a fenced yard!!) but I've got a lot of love to give and promise to work hard to be a wonderful companion. I made some friends with Small Breed Rescue of East TN and they have agreed to help me get adopted by putting my pretty picture up on their website. If you would like to visit with me, please, please, please go to the Young Williams Animal Center and ask to see Roy. They will handle all the adoption details. The HALT program will sponsor my adoption fee. You can find information about this shelter at www.knoxpets.org.
