Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee

Hello there! My name is Richie. You may have seen my story on the news. I came from the broken down u-haul truck with 143 other dogs. Since SBRET doesn't have a lot of info on how I got there and where I came from, they can only guess about my history. They think that I am about 2 years old and am a male Shih Tzu/Terrier mix. I have the beautiful long hair of a Shih Tzu but the ears and muzzle and stocky body of a terrier.

My foster mom thought I needed to lose weight as I am close to 16 pounds, but I am a solid little boy! I do very well with my housetraining. I have not had one accident and I learned how to use a doggie door in an hour! How smart is that? I do have a little skin irritation from my ordeal but we have some special shampoo that is helping my itchiness go away. I am very good in the bathtub.

My new foster family consists of three very active terriers….I do not have the energy that they have. I like to play with my toys, but I love to be lying near you even more. I do not like to share much. I can growl if I think my foster brothers and sister want my food or my toys or your lap when I am on it…..I keep getting reminded that isn't allowed. I don't really like to be left alone so if you were home part of the day, I would not get as nervous. When I get nervous I tend to lick myself till I am calm. I just need a gentle nudge to stop.

I am not sure I have ever met a cat or little humans, so a home with children over 12 will be best. If you have room for a loving, affectionate, all around sturdy guy, I may just be the one for you. I may look like a fu-fu dog, but I am solid as a rock! I am neutered, microchipped and have all my shots. I also sleep all night like a good boy in my kennel.
