Meet Ranger, a male 3 year old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix weighing about 7 pounds. Ranger was found by a good samaritan, unable to walk, dragging himself across the road. After being brought into rescue and seeking immediate veterinary care, it was discovered that Ranger had a spinal fracture, likely from being hit by a car. He was paralyzed in the hind end and unable to urinate on his own. After weeks of strict cage rest, pain management and love, we are happy to report that Ranger can walk and has full control of his urine and bowels. He can use both back legs just fine but at times he is a little wobbly in the hind end. In fact, if you didn't know his story you would likely never notice his funny gait in his hind end. His does have trouble getting traction on slick floors and should not be allowed to jump up or down on furniture.

Ranger is a love bug, he is content snuggling up to his person but at times has a wild puppy side. He loves to play with toys, walks well on a leash, rides well in a car and tolerates a crate for short periods of time. He is not much of a barker and gets along well with other dogs. He has done great with house training but due to being neutered late in life, he does have a tendency to mark especially in new surroundings. We are happy to send along a belly band to help him with his transition. He has been neutered, had his teeth cleaned, microchipped, dewormed, up to date on vaccines, and on flea and heartworm prevention.

Ranger has been such a fighter since first being found by the good samaratin. He had a strong desire to make a full recovery, to be able to walk again and live a happy life. If you are interested in opening your home up to this sweet boy please contact SBRET. His adoption fee is $175.
