Meet Olive, a 2-year-old, 8-pound, female Chihuahua possibly Rat Terrier mix! Olive found herself at a rural shelter as an unclaimed stray. She is shy when first meeting people and takes a little while to get used to new people. Once she is comfortable, she is playful and silly. Olive has no ongoing health issues. She is doing excellently with house training. She has had one accident in her foster home, but otherwise is a perfect lady with her potty manners. She loves going on walks and goes potty on a leash with no problem, so a fenced-in yard is not necessary. Olive likes to go for car rides.

Olive sleeps in a crate at night, although she would probably much rather sleep in bed with her new family! She stays in a crate during the day when her foster moms leaves for a few hours. She has been left to roam in her foster house a few times for up to an hour and hasn't caused any problems.

Olive gets along well with the other Chihuahuas in her foster house but will be fine as the only dog in the household. She has shown some toy possessiveness by growling at her foster fur brother when he approached the toy she was playing with but listens well when corrected. There is a cat in her foster house that she pays zero attention to. There is an 11-year-old child in her foster house that she doesn't mind at all. She seems to like men and women once she warms up to them. She is pretty mellow for a 2-year-old.

Olive would not be a good fit for an apartment because she barks when she hears unfamiliar noises or people walking outside of the room she is sleeping in. She can be quickly redirected and will stop barking, but if her human is not there to correct her, the barking may persist.

Olive is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, on monthly heartworm prevention, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $175. If you want a sweet girl to take on long walks, fill out an application for Olive!
