Hey there! I'm Mushu! I'm a male Hairless Chinese Crested. They call me hairless but really, I have a nice mane down my back and more hair than most. I am about 8 pounds and just had my 2nd birthday. My previous mom had to give me up because there was illness in the family and she didn’t have the time to take care of me--lucky for me she contacted rescue to help with my placement. I stayed with a very nice foster family with two fun doggies, but now I’m staying with a new foster family that’s loads of fun. My foster mom says I will find a forever home soon and that I will never have to leave again because I am the sweetest guy ever.
My foster mom is proud of me because I am doing great on my house-training and I even give her a whimper when I need to go outside. My skin is very sensitive so I don’t like to take very long walks in the full sun and always like to head for the shade when I can. When we’re out for a long time, she always makes sure I have some sunscreen on my bare skin. She also puts lotion on me so that my skin doesn’t get dry. But I like it when she takes care of me and I sit real still until she is done. Inside I sometimes have to wear a sweater because I get cold, but it's fun to stick my head through the holes and it's nice and snuggly.
I like spending my time playing with the little girls in the house. One is 12 and one is 8. They are working on teaching me some fun tricks. I like to hop and dance around for treats and when they throw my favorite toy, I like to bound over to it like a deer. I’m still not sure what to do with it when I catch it, but we’re working on that. The 8 yr old is very silly and likes to play with me ALL the time, but even though I don’t have as much energy as her, I am very patient with her because she’s really still just a puppy herself! My favorite thing to do is to follow my foster mom around from room to room and sit right near her. I especially like getting a cozy snuggle in the evening on someone’s lap. At night, my mom lets me sleep in my very own crate nearby with all my stuff--you know blankets and toys and such!
I would be happy in a home with gentle children and/or other small dogs. In my previous home, I lived with a cat too. Please make sure you know the breed before applying for me because we are unique! But if you understand our special requirements and are looking for a cuddly, friendly, and loyal guy to hang out with, I may be the one. My adoption fee is $175.
