Hi. I'm Maura, a female Pomeranian, and I'm looking for a companion. I'm not very old or very big - about 5 years old and 15 lbs. I'm not rowdy, I don't play or chase toys, other dogs, or cats. I like my people and prefer to be in the room with you. I will sit on the couch or in your lap, but on the floor beside you is just fine. I will sleep in my own little condo, commonly called a crate, or I can sleep in the bed with you, or on a little pillow beside your bed. I prefer my meals twice a day - I have a tendency to, hummm - how to put this - lean toward a fuller figure, so I have to watch my snacks. I'm not big on strolling around outside. If you want to go out, I'll gladly accompany you, but the leash thing - not my favorite. I'd prefer to take a quick trip around the yard, do my thing and get back inside. I don't have much to say unless there is a lot of disruptive noise - car horns, motorcycles, squeaky toys, whistles, doorbells - then I have to say my peace and leave the room. I prefer quiet settings. I will complain if you leave me in another room, while you go read or watch tv. Now, I don't have separation anxiety, but what's the point of having a companion dog if you're going to shut me away in another room? I don't have a problem with guests - male, female, young or old. But, I'm an old fashion lady and I'm not going to go all kissy on visitors. In fact, I don't go all kissy on anyone. I enjoy getting petted and will wag my tail, but there is no reason to go all extreme. I believe my laid back personality makes me the ideal roommate! While it may seem so, I'm not perfect. I had a rough past and while we don't need to drag all of that out to be replayed again and again, I'm working some personal issues. I never had a separate potty area and I'm working really hard to remember to wait until we go outside. I'm doing a wonderful job considering my circumstances, but my new family will have to remember to help me with this. I also have a bit of a confidence problem. If you are unhappy and provide constructive criticism, I may try to hide or hide my face. We'd better address my leg. I had to have knee surgery so I could use my rear, left leg and it has gone fabulously. (Thank you, SBRET!) I'm completely healed. But, we have no idea how long it had been since I had functional use of it. I walk with it now, but I forget about it when I am moving quickly and go back to hopping. I'm doing better and the leg is getting stronger, but it has taken a little longer than some other dogs. Stairs are not a problem, even though I'm a bit leery of them. So, if you'd like a quiet girl, that loves to just be with you, that doesn't require a lot of outside exercise or a playmate, please get in touch with SBRET so we can arrange a meeting.
