"I could be a Star!" That is what my new mom tells me as I am so cute. I am the very sweet and delightful 9 month old Matty, a 12 lb. female Maltese mix. Can you believe I was taken to an animal shelter? Thank heavens the shelter called SBRET because I am now part of a family and learning so much. I didn't know what to do with toys when I first got to my foster home but I sure do now! My mom keeps taking me outside and I am just now figuring out that, beside playing and wandering around, she really wants me to potty while out there. I am having fewer and fewer accidents in the house and she is very proud of me.

I am such a nice girl and my foster family is having a lot of fun with me; even the two big Goldens that live here like me. Besides people who want to spoil me and love me, I really would love a fenced yard as exploring outside is a lot of fun. I'm pretty good on a leash and will get better with practice if you'd also like to take me for walks. I'm very nice to children too but would prefer no toddlers or younger as they can be rough on small dogs.

I sleep in my crate at night and would probably also do really well on a comfy bed close to a family member. I am not much of a lap sitter as there is too much to do other than lay around on your lap, but I love attention. Because I am still pretty young and need continued reinforcement about house training, I would like to go to a family where someone would be home a lot. Not only do I want a fenced yard but I just have to have one! You see, I love exploring outside, smelling the grass, wandering all around the yard, following around my doggie friends, chasing the squirrels. The thought of having to be on a leash every time I get to go outside makes me sad.

My hair was pretty matted up when I was taken to the shelter; in order for that not to happen again, my forever family would have to brush me often and take me to be professionally groomed. I am very good when someone brushes me. My hair is like cotton candy - very soft, but there is a lot of it.

I am just an all around great dog. If you are looking for personality, sweetness, great looks, intelligence and fun, you ought to fill out an adoption application for me. My mom tells me, and I quite agree, that I am really special. My adoption fee is $175.
