Hi, My name is Lucas. I am a Chihuahua mix boy about 7 months old and weigh close to 9 lbs. My former family was unable to take care of me and wanted me to have a better life. When the nice folks at SBRET heard that I might need a little help they came to my rescue. I am now ready for a new beginning and am looking forward to meeting you so we can live happily ever after. In the short time I've been in my foster home I have learned many new and wonderful things. I get to eat twice a day, have humans and furry friends that are nice to me, go for car rides, walks in the woods, and sleep in a warm cozy bed. When my human foster sister was sick, I stayed by her side and took very good care of her. My foster mom says I'm precious, sweet, smart, handsome and all around wonderful little boy. I figured out that's a good thing, so I wag my tail, get excited and give kisses. That equals happy, happy, happy! I get along with everyone. Men, women, kids, dogs and cats. I'm doing good on my housetraining. My foster mom has me on a schedule. I'm doing better walking on a leash, and my walks are a little longer in duration because I'm feeling more comfortable. I still get nervous, but my foster mom is right there to tell me everything is O.K. I tried sleeping in a kennel crate at first, but that didn't work so well. I got really scared. Now I get to sleep with my foster sister. She loves me. I will be happy in a family with or without furry siblings and gentle kind children over 8 yrs old. I will need continued positive reinforcement with my housetraining and socialization. So if your looking for a calm, quiet, snuggle buddy then here I am. Please call my friends at SBRET today. Like all SBRET dogs I've had my vaccinations, been neutered, microchipped and on heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $175. I'm saving a special hug and kiss just for you! 2/13/12 update: Hey everyone Lucas here checking in to let you know how I'm doing. I love to run, jump and play inside with my bigger fur brother. We play chase and hide and seek and boy what fun. After play time I need a nap in my human lap. I sleep very nicely all night in bed with my foster family. I love to cuddle. My foster family has nicknamed me "springy dog". I get so excited when someone comes through the door, I jump from the floor into your arms and give hugs and kisses. I do settle down quickly. I still get nervous in certain situations and sometimes have to be carried outside for potty breaks. I do fine when my foster mom lets me walk around in my favorite spots and then continue to walk nicely without hesitation. While I get along with my human siblings (7, 10 and 12) I think I would be more comfortable with kids at least 12 years old. My new family needs to be home part of the day to continue helping me with house training, socialization and puppy manners. I need you to be patient and understanding, after all I'm not a year old yet and still have a lot to learn. Be sure to checkout my new pictures.
