In Loving Memory

I am a very lucky 9 1/2 pound 3 year old little girl named Holly. I was rescued from a dog hoarder. My new foster mom really thought that me and my good friend Sugar Plum would be totally scared of all the different and wonderful things in our new lives (grass outside, cushy beds, great food, human hands that pet and cuddle) - we were very shy at first but it did not take long for us to start seeking out human attention. Best guess is that I am probably a Shih Tzu and Maltese mix. The good news is that I don't seem to shed. I went from a stinky matted mess to a glamor girl!

My vet gave me a dental and had to extract a tooth. Proper care and nutrition will really help me. I also have a luxating patella on one of my rear knees; sometimes I will do a skip step with that leg but it does not seem to slow me down or cause me any pain. Many toy breed dogs have luxating patellas and they are usually repaired only if they are very severe and causing a lot of pain. It would probably be best to discourage me from doing any crazy jumping off of high places--which you would not want to do any way!

I love having a fenced yard; sometimes I just run and run because, for the first time in my life, I can. I am not used to a leash yet - my foster mom is gradually introducing those kinds of things. I don't fight the leash at all but, because she has a fenced yard, I don't need to be on a leash often. She did let me ride in the seat beside her in the car and I was great, curled up and went to sleep. I do like "lap time" too - being in a home with nice people is such a wondrous thing. I tend to be less shy around women than men. I will run after a toy but don't have a clue what to do with it when I get to it! Like I said before, lots of new things to experience and I'm loving it all. I really do get along great with other dogs and would love to have a small dog companion in my new family if possible.

I am very sweet and, as you can see, very pretty. I'll need occasional professional grooming. Older children would probably be fine for my forever home as long everyone treats me gently and kindly. I curl up in my "nest" bed and won't make a peep at night. I am doing great on my house training but you've got to do your part and get me outside frequently. I will also potty on a pee pad if necessary but I much prefer to go outside.

I want to be with people and love being able to snuggle with you while you watch TV or read. I am a gentle and loving girl. I had no idea that life could be so comfortable and fun; I promise to be a loving companion if you have some patience in helping me explore this glorious new life I've been given.

Like all SBRET rescue dogs, I've been spayed and am up to date on all my shots and am on heartworm preventative. My adoption fee will be $175.
