Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee

My name is Curly and I’m a 3-4 year old 8 pound male poodle. I was rescued from the Roane County puppy mill bust and like most of my friends had mange, super long matted fur and ear infections. It took a long time to get better but now I’m ready for a permanent home with a great family!

I’m still somewhat timid when faced with new people or experiences but it doesn’t take long for me to feel comfortable. I get along with other dogs, big and small, and don’t mind the cats that live here with my foster family. I’ve been learning to sit for my food and my foster mom says she’s very impressed with how fast I’ve picked it up! It’s hard to sit when I just want my food!

I’m getting used to being on a leash but need some extra training on staying on one side of the person walking me. What I really like to do is RUN! My foster family has a big back yard and I’ll just run and run! The other 2 dogs have shown me all the fun hiding places and I enjoy watching my foster mom throw a tennis ball. One of the dogs loves to run after it and brings it back to her. I’m not quite sure if I want to do that yet – I prefer to just run around and around!

I still need to be watched when it comes to housebreaking. I will go outside really well, but if you don’t let me out on a regular basis I may make a mistake. I also still need to be watched closely so I won’t mark in the house. I wear a bellyband part of the day but am getting better. Since I was not socialized as a young pup an adult home would be best for me.
