My name is Charity. I’m a female Chihuahua who now weighs a healthy 7 pounds. My foster mom thinks maybe I am 5 to 7 years old. I got my name because I was in much need of some serious charity when I found myself with Small Breed Rescue. You see, I was on the brink of not surviving when I came to rescue and only weighed 5 pounds. I was an unclaimed stray at a shelter in very poor condition due to starvation. I was also in horrible pain because, after vet examination, it was determined that my jaw was broken, shattered really and dislocated on the left side. My jaw can’t be repaired and I’ve had a dental to remove some very nasty teeth. I have no trouble eating my food because my foster mom soaks my kibble in water overnight.
Fast forward a month…after my dental surgery, I have thrived in my foster home, I have gotten to eat a lot of wonderful food and given lots of love. I was slow to return the love though probably because of my unknown horrible past. I’m slow to get to know you and even now I’m still very opinionated about being picked up. I wouldn’t be a good choice with an inexperienced dog owner or in a home with children under the age of 12. I am loving, silly and playful with my foster mom and if you give me a chance, I will be your loyal companion.
I’m black and white with some splashes of golden brown. I have beautiful big brown, expressive eyes and the most ridiculously big ears! I have the loudest bark, which is surprising for a little girl like me! So I wouldn’t be a good neighbor if you live in an apartment or townhouse. I tolerate cats here but sometimes I chase them off the sofa. I don’t mind the other little dogs here in my foster home but I’m not fond of the big dog here. I’m great about going outside to go potty but you have to remind me or I might forget and have an accident. I need more work on my leash skills but I’m learning. I love my fenced yard where I can explore and roll in the grass.
I’m up to date with my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on prevention. My adoption fee is $175.00.
