I am a dog rescued from a puppy mill where I received no medical care or socialization and was used for breeding purposes. Before you fall in love with my adorable face, please remember that I will have some specific needs in my forever home. I need a secure fenced yard, someone with lots of patience and time during the day to help me with my housetraining and socialization, an adult dog-experienced home, and another small dog buddy to help show me the ropes. Thank you for reading!

Hello, my name is Buffy. I am a 5-year old female Chihuahua, weigh 6.4 pounds, and have a beautiful buff-colored coat. I was rescued from a puppy mill after spending my life in a cage having babies. I was not loved or cherished or given medical care. You would think I would be a very sad dog, but I am so happy at my foster parents' home and am learning new things every day.

I still need a lot of patience and love to bring out the best in me but I'm improving every day. Can you just imagine being my age and never being outside before? My foster mom takes me outside on a leash in her fenced yard many times each day and I'm getting less and less frightened of all of the new smells and noises out there. I sleep in my bed all night and don't make a sound until my mom gets me up. If I get to go outside as soon as I wake up, I will sometimes do my business outside (which is also all new to me) or I will use a potty pad inside.

I live with 3 other little Chihuahuas and don't mind them at all. I have not learned how to play or interact with other animals yet but that may come in time. I am still very slow and timid around new people. I still have a bit of hesitation going to my foster mom to be picked up, but that being said, I do love to cuddle and snuggle with her on the couch every evening.

My perfect home would be where someone is home part of the day to continue to work with me on my socialization skills and potty training. I will need to be walked outside daily so I can figure out what that's all about and not be so scared when a leaf falls in front of me. A secure fenced yard will keep me safe because I still spook so easily. No young children would be best in my home and I would not be a great dog for a first-time dog owner. I am starting to figure things out though. I love when my foster mom gets down on the floor with me - I get so excited I turn around in circles! So you see I am working hard on this new life outside the cage.

Luckily, I am a healthy little girl. I am spayed, microchipped, have had a dental cleaning, and up to date on all of my vaccines, heartworm and flea prevention . My adoption fee is $175.00.
