In Loving Memory

I want to thank everyone that helped to bring little Beau into our lives. I begin with my daughter, Wendy, who knew how much I wanted a little Yorkie, but also knew how we had had pound puppies, and how important that was to me too....(our last 2, Schnookie and Muffy, died a year ago, at age 15 l/2 each). Wendy is an Investigative Reporter in Houston, Tx., and she found the Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue on the internet.

Next comes the Knoxville -Knox County Animal Center in Knoxville who took such good care of him during his stay there, provided his needed medical care, and allowed Yorkie Rescue to take Beau and find him his forever home. Thank you also to Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee for posting Beau's picture and story on their website....and then a big thank you goes to Beau's 2 foster homes (thanks Kaye and Karen!), and an especially big thank you to Karen who matched us up so perfectly.

Beau is adjusting well to his new home, sleeps well thru the night, and only a very few accidents! He is now eating well too...the rescue really does get to know these dogs well....and they warned me...he is the pickiest eater I've ever seen. Finally, however we've found some things that he does eat!

I'm an occupational therapist, and Beau is so sweet and calm - I decided to try him for pet therapy at the long term care center where I work. He is an absolute natural, just loves to be held, never barks or squirms, goes with anyone...but does keep a look out for me. He has gone twice...and when they see me in the morning it's not..."Hi Mickey"...but "Where's Beau"! So he is now being added to the activities schedule and will be doing his pet therapy on Wednesdays!

He's sitting on my lap right now....he loves taking my husband and I for walks....and we never sit in a chair alone anymore. He's quite a jumper....loves to sit on top of the couch in the sun and look out the front window at the street, and gets very excited when he sees my car pull into the driveway! He travels very well, and was the center of attention when we went to a celebration over the mountain for my uncle's birthday....and in a few weeks I will take him to visit my mother in Greensboro. She is in an alzheimers facility, and I sent her Beau's pictures! So many thanks to all who made this possible!

Fondly, Mickey Schandler Grossman, O.T.R.L.

Mickey and Beau
