Hi! My name is Archer and I'm a 4 year old, 6 pound male Maltese/Poodle mix. I came into rescue after someone found me wandering around all by myself and an area shelter contacted SBRET. I am much happier being in a safe environment now and can't wait to find my forever home!

I am a very happy and playful dog. I like everyone I meet, but because of my small size I would do much better in a home with children older than 8. Sometimes I get a little scared around strangers and may bark at them, but as soon as I know I'm safe I'm very loving. I play well with my doggy foster brother, but sometimes I would prefer to have all of the attention to myself. I would be fine in a home with other dogs, but I would also enjoy being the center of attention! I haven't been around cats, so my foster mom isn't sure how I would do with them.

I love cuddling with my foster mom and anyone who will let me. I don't like being in a crate at night, so hopefully you'll let me cuddle with you in bed! My foster mom thinks I'm just like a teddy bear because I'm so soft and sweet. During the day, I stay in an indoor exercise pen and do well in it. When my foster mom leaves, I am a little vocal because I'm sad she's gone. I'm able to calm myself down, but I might not be the best apartment dog because of how vocal I can be.

I am doing so well with my house training! I have had very few accidents since coming into rescue, and I've even started telling my foster mom when I need to go out. Sometimes I'll stand at the front door until I get her attention, and in the morning I like to climb on top of her and let her know it's time to wake up and go potty! You need to always keep an eye on me though because sometimes I like to sneak off and can have accidents when I'm not supervised.

I love going on walks! A fenced in yard is not necessary for me because I love getting outside and walking all over the place and I do really well on a leash. The vet says that at some point I must have had a broken leg or I was born with my leg fused because one of my back legs is a bit of a peg leg. It doesn't seem to bother me, but I do hop a little bit! My foster mom thinks it's just part of my quirky personality! I did have an xray and there is not a surgical fix for my leg.

I have been neutered, microchipped, all of my vaccinations are up-to-date, and I'm on monthly heart worm and flea prevention. I would be a great addition to any family looking for a loving, happy, and playful little guy. I am a big ole sweetheart and am so excited to find my forever home! My adoption fee is $175.
