Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee
Small Breed Rescue of East TN, Inc. (SBRET) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to finding forever homes for displaced or abandoned small breed dogs. We are also dedicated to educating the public about pet overpopulation, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the horrors of puppymills.
Please refrain from making ANY purchases from stores that sell puppies for profit (not to be confused with pet supply stores that provide adoption services for local humane societies, animal shelters, and rescue groups). It is estimated that over 90% of these cute little puppies in pet stores come from mass breeding facilities called puppymills. These stores will deny it, because this is their business. If you don't think puppymills exist in TN, then think again - one of our members participated in the rescue of multiple dogs from a Lyles, TN puppymill. There are many wonderful animals available for adoption in local animal shelters, humane societies, and rescue groups in the area.
All of us at Small Breed Rescue of East TN are deeply saddened by the 7/6/06 passing of Karen Houser, the founder of our rescue. We all have many fond memories that will keep her forever in our hearts and at the heart of SBRET.
