2010 SBRET Reunion - 9/26/10Thanks to everyone who attended the 2010 SBRET Reunion on Sunday, September 26 at Pet Safe Village from 2 - 5 pm. There was food, fun, games, prizes, photographs, special guests, and lots of tail wags. Three pages of pictures from the event are now available.
Purchase a "brick" to memorialize or honor a special pet or person and help us create our "Dog House that Love Built" and for every $55 raised SBRET will save a shelter dog! As you probably know, the adoption fee for a dog almost never covers the actual expenses incurred with a rescued dog. Dental work, surgeries, special medications for every variety of condition or disease, grooming, plus the normal inoculations, spaying or neutering, microchipping, heart worm and flea preventatives, makes our veterinary expenses extremely high. Our goal is to adopt out rescued dogs who have been given every medical advantage possible, a loving start in a foster home, and a forever family who will love and cherish these dogs, many of whom were abused, unwanted or neglected. The Reunion will also be a major fund raiser for SBRET with a silent auction and our SBRET store. Please bring cash and checks! Below are some of the things you will have an opportunity to buy or bid on:
SILENT AUCTION - Donors and businesses have been very generous and have given awesome items that you will be able to bid on. Among the items received so far are: small teak indoor dog house; hand crafted bird house; hand built and designed pottery luminary; Oasis canopy with screen netting; Vera Bradley small dog carrier; certificate for a queen sized box springs and mattress set; "gently used" treadmill; Pulvermacher designer bowl; 7" Digital Picture Frame; golf range finder; soft sided golf travel bag; "Build A Dog" craft set; Christmas gift basket; garden gift basket; gift certificates from area restaurants and specialty stores. The Reunion will be from 2:00 until 5:00 PM. An announcement for the final bids for the silent auction items will be about 4:15; winners will be announced at 4:30 and items can be picked up at that time.

The SBRET REUNION on September 26 is going to be such fun! The honored guests are the dogs and families who have adopted dogs from SBRET. There will be complimentary hot dogs, cupcakes, and...dog biscuits as well as "Ask a Vet" and "Ask a Groomer" tables where you can talk to professionals. For a nominal donation, there will be a photographer who will make family or individual pictures of you and your dog(s) as well as someone who will make ID tags for your pets.
There will be 13 dog games or contests with great prizes to the winners. Most contests will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes and ribbons. Be ready to enter into the fun. Two of the contests are for creative dog costumes, some are for obedience work, some are dog games, all are fun. For Yorkie adopters, there will be a special prize to honor and remember SBRET's founder, Karen Houser, who had a soft spot for rescuing this breed.
SBRET STORE - Our foster parents are a talented group and they have made wonderful things for our store. Comfy Dog Harness Vests; baked goods; hand made soaps, leashes, belly bands, fleece tugs, knitted items, and dog quilts. There will be two fabulous hand quilted wall hangings as well as dog pillows that are lavender scented and filled with barley so that they can be microwave heated for the cold-natured pets. There will be Christmas gift items, hand made note cards, and dog books.
